Simply put ... in my opinion you are the greatest player ever to put on the Burnt Orange. What you have done for our program is unmeasurable. I'm definitely sad to see you go, but you are picking a great senior class to leave with. Thank you for everything you have provided to our great University. Best of luck on Sundays. No matter what team you land on, I'll be rooting for you. Hook 'em Horns!!!

Vince, thanks for all of the great memories from your games while you were here. I would have liked to see you one more year, but I understand your need to go on. Most of your fans understand this. You always represented UT well, you are one of the best ever Horns. There will never be another one like you.
Represent us well at the next level. We will always be proud of you. The Eyes of Texas will always be upon you and we will be wishing you well. Hook'em and God Bless...

Vince. God. Vince.
What can be said? Greatest player in the great history of the greatest university that hosts the greatest football program in the nation. I remarked the other day that, for the life of me, there will never be another player like Vince Young. There will be greats. There will be people who preform amazing clutch preformances. There will be leaders. There will be high scorers, fast runners, and others who "do the impossible."
But no one will do it like Vince. Spit in the eye of adversity, jut your jaw out, and single handedly bring Texas from the verge of being a 2nd class football school to the leader of the god damn nation. There are a few names in Texas history that are spoken with utter reverence, and draw tears to the eyes of everyone who loves Texas. Earl. Ricky. Royal. Bible. Layne.
Vince, you transcend them all. A class of your own. Bleed orange, Vince, bleed orange. Know that, forever, the eyes of Texas will not be upon you, but with you, loving you, and cheering for you. You lit the tower ablaze in burnt orange. Hook 'em, and thank you so very much.

So I live in Kuala Lumpur (not much football here - at least not much of the type we all follow) and I am walking home this weekend. I am stopped by a tourist who, seeing I am obviously not a local, decides to ask me directions. I navigate for him as best I can and after wishing him a good stay he sees my UT t-shirt and asks "Did you go to Texas?". I said "You bet!". He replies "Congratulatioins on the National Championship and Hookem!".
I thought "Wow, so that's how it feels huh?"
Thanks.

Vince you have got to be the best college QB in Texas history and to me the best player in the college football right now and it's been such a great ride and I loved every minute of it.
I will miss seeing you in a Texas Longhorn uniform but I will follow your NFL career.
Thank you for being such a great leader on and off the field. You gave 110% and always looked so calm and I admire that very much.
Best of Luck to you always.

I was on the ground floor for you when you were a RS freshman in the 2003 season. I was the only one who said all along that you in a shotgun no-huddle offense would get us a National Championship trophy and by God, I was right. Thanks so much for 3 spectacular seasons. You have set an almost impossible standard for future UT QB's and I expect you to do the same in the NFL. Hook 'em, my hero.

Vince,
Thanks for taking the time to meet your fans Saturday. It was great to meet you, and I hope you and your family enjoy the DVD's.
I'll never forget your first ever game in the 2003 season opener when you ran wild through the New Mexico State defense, and it looked like you were running full-speed while everyone else was in slow motion... it was really like nothing anyone had ever seen before ("Matrix-like speed" was the best way I heard it described).
Then when you threw a perfect 60-yard completion with your first pass as a Longhorn, it showed everyone that you were MUCH more than just a "running" QB (too bad it took the rest of the world 2 years to realize it!).
That same night, I recorded your highlight plays from the game to my computer, then posted them to my online Tripod page. Within a couple hours, so many people were trying to download the videos that the website crashed. :-)
Finally, a few weeks later, I created a real website (www.jcdenton40.com), and I've been uploading highlights from every UT game ever since (not to mention the many amazing highlight video compilations created by several dedicated and talented UT fans).
Looking back on it now, I'm just thankful I had the opportunity to chronicle and "preserve" (digitally) one of the greatest three-year periods in the history of UT sports, and the career of the greatest athlete to ever wear the burnt orange. Best of luck in the NFL, and thanks for all the great memories from your brief yet incredible Longhorn career.
