LOS ANGELES — Suzanne Pleshette, the beautiful, husky-voiced film and theater star best known for her role as Bob Newhart's sardonic wife on television's long-running The Bob Newhart Show, has died, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein. She was 70.
Pleshette, who underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006, died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said Finkelstein, who is also a family friend.
The Bob Newhart Show, a hit throughout its six-year run, starred comedian Newhart as a Chicago psychiatrist surrounded by eccentric patients. Pleshette provided the voice of reason. The Link
She was my first MILF, though technically she didn't have any kids on the show.

Best series ending in TV history, IMO.
Newhart, the Vermont innkeeper, wakes up in the middle of the night with his wife from the original series (Pleshette), and comments that he had a weird dream.................and that she (his wife) would look good in a sweater.
From one who fondly recalls the Golden Age of TV ....
....RIP

I had the exact same thought. Man, I loved me some Emily Hartley.
That's probably my favorite show from the 70's.

Wow, one of my first dream girls. I did enjoy the Bob Newhart show greatly. A wonderful lineup on CBS at that time.

I believe that was voted the most surprising surprise ending ever by SEIA (Surprise Ending Institute of America).

I saw these two shopping at Costco in LA about 4 or 5 years ago. They were both on Bob Newhart TV shows, but Suzanne was on "The Bob Newhart Show" and Tom Poston was on "Newhart". In her bio, it says that they dated back in 1959 while working together and then after marrying other people, ended up getting married in about 2000.
some lady with Tom Poston (middle) and Suzanne Pleschette (right)
Here's another shot of them:The Link
But when I saw them, they were pushing a shopping cart. It was kind of cute actually.

Farewell, and Rest In Peace.
They sure don't make good shows like Newhart anymore. Sigh.

She was a good looking lady. Growing up, it was a toss-up over who was the hotter sitcom woman: her or Mary Tyler Moore. RIP

Great actress and a fine looking woman. I still have a couple of her Playboy issues. I was never a big fan of Newhart, but I watched the Suzanne show every week.

Tom Poston was on both shows.
He was Bob's best friend "The Peeper" on the original Newhart show.
I am really sorry to hear this, as Suzanne was a wonderful comedic actress with the sexiest voice in TV.
