Is it just me, or are there eleventy billion more tattoos out there than there used to be?? Maybe its just here in Austin.

Wow. I'm like the odd man out.

Those things are permanent you know.

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

While I don't mind others having them, that's something I'd never do.

Unless the Horns win a national championship in basketball. I'd get a Longhorn tattoo.

I think I'm safe.

No, it's not just you, tattoos have reached epidemic porportions among the young folks. It's amazing how many young women have extensive tattooing.

I was apart of the Hair generation. When that was over, all we had to do was get a haircut and a shave. I feel sorry for these folks.

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

There used to be a Longhorn or Bevo caricature that often appeared on T-shirts and sweatshirts sold by the Co-op, for example. Bevo had the ball closely tucked in one arm, and the other arm was in a stiff-arm position. I remember this Beeve had GIANT nostrils. If I was ever to get a tat, that would be the one. Anyone have a link to this Bevo caricature?

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

I don't understand tattoos. They're a permanent commitment to a current interest, and they get uglier with age. If you really like a design, then have it embroidered on a shirt, and wear that sucker every dang day until it rots off if you want. But, when you get tired of the design, you take the shirt off. Not so with a tattoo (absent great pain and expense).

The human body is the Maker's most perfect creation. It cannot be improved by a tattoo.

Man, I sound old and crotchity...

Burnt orange is only a current interest?

I actually find girls with tattoos to be a turn off, unless it's like a really small out of the way thing.

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

what gets me is those who think that getting a tattoo is this big rebellious act. How rebellious is it, when everyone has one?

Someone between the ages of 18 and 25 not having a single tattoo is the rebellious act.

I'll do this with you Texanne! I'd get a life size tat of Coach Barne's face across my back. A la, Steve-o.

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

I suppose it's only permanent in relation to one's life expectancy and subsequent rate of decay.

At any rate, the term "permanent" is beyond the comprehension of many young people.

A beautiful girl with a well placed and crafted tattoo can look quite attractive. I'm not concerned how she will look at 60 if she's not.

I know a really cute upper middle class girl with a tatoo on her neck.

Cracks me up everytime people describe her as "That really cute chick with the tat on her neck"

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

My older brother got one in '82. It was still pretty novel at that time, relegard to bikers, sailors, some musicians perhaps and a few others I guess. My parents nearly stroked out.

I got drunk and got a Longhorn tat in '89 I think. Strategically placed. no one sees it unless I want them to.

I agree, not sure how/why it got so cool to get a tatoo. Seems most people 35 and under have one. Don't really get the extensive tatoos.

Older chick I dated in '91 was the first girl I knew with a tatoo on the small of her back. I dug it for many (obvious) reason.

Re: Tattoos [re: 7 Iron]

Alot of tats are interesting. I like.

I do not have a tat.

What I find alarming is the new wave of trendy jean shorts amongst the hipster crowd. Super casual, t and jorts.

I was talking with a friend last night who had recently went to Brooklyn. He said the hipster capitol was filled with people sporting jean cutoffs. It was clearly not so much an issue of comfort as it was an issue of fashion. I laughed incredulously. We later went to the Liberty and I'll be damned if there weren't about 25-35 people wearing jean shorts.

fleecchh.

Anyway, tats are cool if you are imaginative.
