Jake Oliver in the group of top performers as well. It's going to be a fun couple of seasons once the new group gets here.

I’m reluctant to make comparisons with VY—he was such a unique talent—but wow, watching Swoopes sprint past defenders does remind me of someone. He runs like dammit.

Swoopes is definitely a freakish athlete, but I could watch Jake Oliver block all day long. I've never seen a receiver punish DB's like he does. Glad he's ours!

You know that WR's blocking downfield is just not appreciated enough. I bet our three headed monster of MB, JB, and JG will appreciate it when they run by a down DB thanks to Jake's pancake.

I hate to make comparisons, also, but it's hard not to notice that deceptive lope that is actually faster than the DBs trying to catch him. He looks like he is at half speed, but he is flying past guys. I have seen something like that somewhere before...

Jesus Christ let the kid enjoy high school. He still has a senior year of football left to play.In reply to:
But when you are the big man on campus in a school of only 275, you are going to be asked to wear many hats outside off the football field. He's currently in a track and field state of mind focusing on what he needs to do to improve in Whitewright's relays and also in the long and triple jump. He played basketball prior to that.

The laziness of these blog writers is astonishing. Swoopes attended the Elite 11 on Saturday and performed fine, but was not named MVP at that event - he was given the invite to the national Elite 11 after performing well on Sunday at the Nike Football Training Camp and he did receive the MVP at that event.
I was at the NFTC and spent the day watching all the QBs there that day. Although he performed very well, I'll have to say I was mildly surprised he was awarded the camp MVP award. He was among a half-dozen or so QBs out of the 41 QBs in attendance who I would have placed in the "elite" among those there, but of those he was clearly the most raw in terms of throwing technique and fundamentals and I thought there were 2 or 3 others who I expected might receive that recognition at the end of the day. OTOH, I think it's fair to say that Swoopes has the most upside among that group.

I cannot wait for this kid to get on campus. I hope he improves even more throughout his senior year, just to make the wait a bit more unbearable.
