Cory Redding

Message For C Redding, Mary, Tyrone and the Family

As we begin our final home tailgate in which your son will wear the burnt orange for Texas, I want to thank you and your family for allowing us to join you in celebrating our true passion – Longhorn Football. I cannot believe four years has passed since that first game when we watched Cory take the field for the Longhorns and then join us that evening following the game.

It has been a pleasure to get to know and watch your family grow up in front of us.

Regarding Cory, I cannot think of a person who is a better embodiment and personification of character than your son. From the minute and manner in which he picked Texas (taking a chance with a once proud program and committing to the dream), to his exemplary play on the field and leadership in the locker room – he has been a pleasure to watch and to know. To have the staff hold his opinion in such high regard that they trust him to make calls on potential Longhorns speaks volumes about how he is revered by both the team and the fans.

I know many of the people at the tailgate watch and regard him as they would their own child. It makes it all the more special when he makes a big play on the field that we know the family celebrating the success.

Next year, I would imagine you will be on the road to various NFL cities, but I hope we have many more Saturdays to celebrate together – thanks again for all you have given to us.

You will always be first family of Hornfans.

Hook’em

Re: Message For C Redding, Mary, Tyrone and the Family [re: Lone Star]

Cory is my favorite player and has been the entire four years he has been at The University. I will miss watching him play in Austin but look forward to becoming the biggest fan of whichever NFL team is lucky enough to get him. I specifically got the NFL ticket after Ricky graduated so that I could follow his career. I will do the same with Cory. Every time I have had the pleasure of speaking with Cory or his Mom, they have always been so nice and express true gratitude to those of us who have Cory tagged as our favorite player.

Last year, I made a big sign that said "Thank You Seniors" and listed every senior's name - I took this to meet the team bus at last year's final home game. I will do the same this year, but a friend will have to hold that sign....... because I will be holding another sign that will specifically thank Cory (and Chris) for the leadership and dedication to The University.

Thank you Cory, I'll miss you

Put me on the Cory fan club list as well. Great player and great human being.

To the family, I enjoyed spending time with you at the tailgates and look forward to seeing you even after Cory is tearing it up in the NFL. We could never ask for a better ambassador of The University of Texas than Cory.

Re: Message For C Redding, Mary, Tyrone and the Family [re: Lone Star]

Four years ago, my friends and I were in the stands watching Cory wreak havoc. We felt the need to commemorate these performances by a freshman, and it gave birth to our "I'm just a freshman, and you can't hold me ..." chants, usually accompanied by a rather idiotic waving of the arms and un-rhythmic dance moves. This honor has since been bestowed upon Roy, DJ, and this year, Larry Dibbles, but the first and always original is CRred. He will be missed.

Add my name to the list of fans of Cory. I still remember your first sack against Stanford as a freshman and the big sack in Ames later that year. Your performance this year in Manhatten was tremendous and you have been a leader on the field and a class act off the field. Thanks for representing the University in such a class way, and here is to a big finish of your college career and many great sundays to come.

Damnation, LoneStar, now you've done it.

I swore that I wouldn't get sad about Cory's last home game until after the game. It is also Chris, Beau, Rod, and all of these great seniors.

The great news is that they will always be Longhorns. I am so proud of them.

I'll probably yell louder for Redding than any other senior on Friday morning. Many thanks for being so damn fired up, seemingly all the time.

I had the good fortune to stand by some of Cory's family to greet the players as they got off the bus before the A&M game in 2001 - awesome, awesome people.

If Mary and Tyrone stop coming to the tailgates, who is going to spell Robert on the grill?

I loved meeting his Sister, B-I-L, and all the young ones too.

Cory is one of the greatest athletes to wear a Longhorn jersey. His intensity on the DKR field will be missed but I'll enjoy watching him on Sunday. Thanks, Cory, for the memories. Finish strong and good luck!

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mary at a spring practice. She is a very personable lady. I can see where Cory gets some of his personality and it is a nice reflection of their family. Cory, thanks for the great memories, especially the flip into the endzone on the Cole Pittman celebration game against UNC.
