Message For C Redding, Mary, Tyrone and the Family
As we begin our final home tailgate in which your son will wear the burnt orange for Texas, I want to thank you and your family for allowing us to join you in celebrating our true passion – Longhorn Football. I cannot believe four years has passed since that first game when we watched Cory take the field for the Longhorns and then join us that evening following the game.
It has been a pleasure to get to know and watch your family grow up in front of us.
Regarding Cory, I cannot think of a person who is a better embodiment and personification of character than your son. From the minute and manner in which he picked Texas (taking a chance with a once proud program and committing to the dream), to his exemplary play on the field and leadership in the locker room – he has been a pleasure to watch and to know. To have the staff hold his opinion in such high regard that they trust him to make calls on potential Longhorns speaks volumes about how he is revered by both the team and the fans.
I know many of the people at the tailgate watch and regard him as they would their own child. It makes it all the more special when he makes a big play on the field that we know the family celebrating the success.
Next year, I would imagine you will be on the road to various NFL cities, but I hope we have many more Saturdays to celebrate together – thanks again for all you have given to us.
You will always be first family of Hornfans.
Hook’em

Cory is my favorite player and has been the entire four years he has been at The University. I will miss watching him play in Austin but look forward to becoming the biggest fan of whichever NFL team is lucky enough to get him. I specifically got the NFL ticket after Ricky graduated so that I could follow his career. I will do the same with Cory. Every time I have had the pleasure of speaking with Cory or his Mom, they have always been so nice and express true gratitude to those of us who have Cory tagged as our favorite player.
Last year, I made a big sign that said "Thank You Seniors" and listed every senior's name - I took this to meet the team bus at last year's final home game. I will do the same this year, but a friend will have to hold that sign....... because I will be holding another sign that will specifically thank Cory (and Chris) for the leadership and dedication to The University.
Thank you Cory, I'll miss you

Put me on the Cory fan club list as well. Great player and great human being.
To the family, I enjoyed spending time with you at the tailgates and look forward to seeing you even after Cory is tearing it up in the NFL. We could never ask for a better ambassador of The University of Texas than Cory.

Four years ago, my friends and I were in the stands watching Cory wreak havoc. We felt the need to commemorate these performances by a freshman, and it gave birth to our "I'm just a freshman, and you can't hold me ..." chants, usually accompanied by a rather idiotic waving of the arms and un-rhythmic dance moves. This honor has since been bestowed upon Roy, DJ, and this year, Larry Dibbles, but the first and always original is CRred. He will be missed.

Add my name to the list of fans of Cory. I still remember your first sack against Stanford as a freshman and the big sack in Ames later that year. Your performance this year in Manhatten was tremendous and you have been a leader on the field and a class act off the field. Thanks for representing the University in such a class way, and here is to a big finish of your college career and many great sundays to come.

Damnation, LoneStar, now you've done it.
I swore that I wouldn't get sad about Cory's last home game until after the game. It is also Chris, Beau, Rod, and all of these great seniors.
The great news is that they will always be Longhorns. I am so proud of them.

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mary at a spring practice. She is a very personable lady. I can see where Cory gets some of his personality and it is a nice reflection of their family. Cory, thanks for the great memories, especially the flip into the endzone on the Cole Pittman celebration game against UNC.

It can't be true! Time goes by so fast, it seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the announcement of the recruiting coup in Cory Redding's UT committment.
Since then there have been so many memories of games well played, and of your wonderful family members who have been such a pleasure to be surrounded by at games and tailgates. I might even forgive Tyrone for winning the chili cookoff.
As my wife likes to say, Cory has those "movie star looks" and a winning personality.
I will miss most Cory's TV and radio comments-he became the favorite interview of the local media, and always had something worthwhile to add without resorting to cliches. The comments on Monday nights Mack Brown radio show brought tears to my eyes.
Horn fans know Cory will succeed in pro ball, and with that can-do attitude, in whatever he tries in life.
Alright, we'll reluctantly allow Cory to move on, but not Mary and Tyrone. They have to stay.

Honest leadership. Great play combined with integrity. That's what have brought to Texas. We are so much better for it. We learned alot, especially about summersaults into the endzone. We learned the your value to this program was greater than your play on the field because of the respect that you generated for yourself and the University. Thanks Cory for the way you have represented the University. I'm especially gonna miss the way you handled defeat. You were always the first person, head held high, to walk to the UT section to sing the Eyes of Texas. You knew you could do this b/c it was always obvious that you gave 110% on the field. Please pass the "team leader" torch on to someone who can represent our University as well as you have for the last 4 years. Thanks again and good luck in the NFL.

Don't ever lose your fire. You have been awesome to watch. You bring the passion and excitement to the game that I wish that everyone would. If we could have eleven players on the field at the same time waving their arms for crowd noise, then doing their job, and celebrating afterwards, I woould feel a lot more comfortable with our defense. I am very proud of all of the guys, but you have that extra something that really is hard to match. Have fun in the NFL. Some just collect a paycheck up there but it will be fun to watch you go out each game with a lot more insentive than that. You obviously love the game of football and I know that will never change.

I believe you have defined the word "leader" for us Texas fans time and time again. You lit up opposing offenses and did the chop. You knocked the pass out of the QBs hand with one arm and then fell on the ball with the other. You went above and beyond to try and tell other young footballers why The University of Texas is THE place to be. You pushed the envelope to make Horns Football better, and succeeded tremendously.
And you always had that smile when the pads weren't on. You rock. Good luck in the pros, I know I for one will keep an eye on your success. Thanks for all that you have done for something we all love so much.
Hook 'Em Horns,
We're Texas.

Cory, in my mind you are the heart and soul of this team and have been for the past two years. It seems every play you're making the tackle. I love the fire you play with. It will be impossible to replace you and your leadership. Good luck in the NFL, have a wonderful life and keep your priorities in perspective.
Thanks for being a Longhorn.
"Maybe they should put that #12 in. He must be pretty good." Overheard in the stands at Pyle last T+1 day. Recited by two young men in Burnt Orange attire.

Cory:
You've been a great football player for the Horns these past 4 years, and I'm thankful for that. But I'm even more thankful for the way you've conducted yourself during those years. Any parent would be proud of you, and I know your parents feel that pride. I'm an old geezer that's been following Longhorn football since 1958, and I will simply tell you---"son, you did good".

Thanks Cory. Thanks for playing the game the right way!
You did not get credit for all of the plays you made, but I am sure the scouts know a great one when they see one.
Wish you could stay at UT forever, but I cant wait to watch you on Sundays.

Cory,
As so many others have said, thank you to you and your family. You're all good people and it's been a pleasure. I hope we see the whole crew at the chili cook-off this summer. When (not if, but when ) you come back to visit, call ahead and I'll put a plate of cookies aside for you.
May God bless you with abundance.

Cory,
Thank you for coming to Texas and for 4 GREAT years that you gave for the 'Horns D. You were one of my personal favorites on the team. To me, you were the heart of the D and probably the leader your Jr. & Sr. years. My very best wishes for you in the NFL - I look forward to watching you play on Sunday.

There is an elite fraternity that has very few members. When people hear the names Appleton, Campbell, Clayborn, Erxleben, Gray, Johnnie Johnson, Johnny Jones, Bobby Layne, Rosy Leaks, McMichael, Nobis, Kenneth Sims, Siesmore, Speyrer, Ricky, and Worster, they think of Longhorn legends.
Congratulations to you for joining the club. On my list, that's right in between Nobis and Kenneth Sims. It can't get much better than that.
