Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

I still remember the night in 1999 when it was announced over the loud speaker at Cain & Able's that you had committed to play for Texas. I think you might have been there. Anyways, the entire bar erupted into a cheer. At the time I was really excited that a great quarterback was going to play for the Longhorns, but I had no idea that you were also such a great person.

Undeservingly, you had to go through more adversity than any other quarterback in the nation. I don't know anybody who could have handled it as well as you did.

You are going to make a great Pro quarterback. Thank you for choosing UT, and thank you for the memories.

Thank you for coming to Texas. You brought much more to Texas than just great quarterback skills. You've been a class act and we're proud you're a Longhorn. All our best in the NFL.

Thank you for starting the recruiting avalanche that has steadily increased at UT. Thanks for the many great moments, and the smiling, winning attitude after adversity. May you continue to roll with the punches, and be a success in the next league.
Wish you had redshirted as a frosh, because your steady improvement makes it a shame there is not one more year ahead.
Great comments about your love for UT and Austin on the Mack Brown radio show Monday!

Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

Chris, you have been an outstanding representative for The Universtiy of Texas. You have handled yourself with dignity and honor though you were not always treated that way. I was just heart sick after the cu game from last year and the way you were treated. You have been held to a higher standard than any player that I can remember and I go back to the Duke Carlisle days (1963) and yes I am still alive. You are one of the main reasons that Texas is back in the national spot light and for that we all should be eternally grateful. I hope and fully expect you will have a very successful pro career and I will watch you with great interest and hope that you do well. Good luck and thanks again.

Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

Thank you so much for coming to Texas and putting us back on the map. You have done more for this university than you will ever know. The way you handled yourself with class throughout all the adversity that came your way is truly an example to all of us.

I read the other day that you said that you had expected at least 1 and maybe 2 national championships when you came here. I think all of us did. But there is a reason that things turned out the way they did and I know that I would not trade your 4 years here for anything. I only wish you had one more chance.

Good luck in the NFL. Which ever team picks you instantly becomes my favorite team. I hope you are able to achieve everything that you hope to achieve. You are a class act.

We love you and we'll miss you.

Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

Thank you for attending and playing for The University of TEXAS. You should be very proud of the way you've played, handled adversity, and risen above it all. I for one have ALWAYS been supportive of your actions on and off the field. I can't wait to see what you will accomplish in the NFL. I wish a great finish to your great career here and a stellar pro career. HOOK 'EM Chris. We may be TEXAS, but you are TEXAS football. Best of luck.

p.s. Please don't let some the ugliness you've encountered keep you from sending your kids with rocket arms to TEXAS.

Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

Chris Simms, you have done what's been asked, worked hard year round, met with hostile media and boorish fans, been called the best and the worst all in the same quarter and yet you've been able to treat all the imposters better than they deserve by giving them a smile, no whining and honest effort. The University is lucky to have you and will always claim you as a Horn where ever and whatever you do.Sometime I think that we all acted like a gang of monkeys who found a bright diamond and didn't know quite what to do with it. For you part, you just shined. Thanks and make sure you fire all your bullets this one last time against the aggies. Adios and Hook 'em

Re: Chris Simms [re: LonghornGirlie]

Some day, God willing, I will have a son, maybe more. To them I will tell of the mighty quarterback who played football for the Texas Longhorns, whose ability, while great enough, was even bettered by his fortitude and resolve. I hope they learn the lessons you have explified in your play and in the way you carry yourself; humility, courage, honesty. I could find no finer examples than these qualities in a man, and your parents should be proud to have brought up such a fine son.

The past four seasons have been great with you and your class. I am happy that our University is represented with individuals like you with so much class. Good luck with your future as the NFL awaits. Whichever team picks you up, they will be my favorite team (Even if its the bengals).

Chris, you're probably one of the most under appreciated QBs we've ever had, BUT I think you're the best we've had so good luck and I will look forward to the rest of you're career here and in the NFL
