The Return of Longhorn Super Trivia Part 2

While you are wrestling with the graduate level question on the other Longhorn Super Trivia post, try these:
Freshman - Arguably the best all-around offensive player and the best all-around defensive player for Texas in the 80's wore the same jersey number for the Horns. Who are the two players and what is the number? (and if this generates a debate on who the best players were from that decade, so be it)
Sophomore - Name the tiny high school that produced future Longhorn and NFL DT's Steve McMichael and Bill Acker.
Junior - What was Lam Jones' jersey number and who wore the number for Texas immediately after Jones moved on to the NFL?
Senior - What current Longhorn player is the nephew of a former major league baseball player and the cousin of a current NFL player?

OK, my trivia skills must be shot - I'm going to have to dig out the media guides. But the freshman answer would be No. 2 - Eric Metcalf and Mossy Cade (I wouldn't argue that he was the best we had in the '80s, although he was awfully good. But he was the only '80s stud I could think of that wore No. 2 on defense.)
Lionel Hutz: "Mr. Simpson, you don't believe your son could be the leader of a murderous organized crime syndicate, do you?"
Homer Simpson: "Well not the leader..."

I have to give you partial credit. Eric Metcalf is who I was thinking of for offense, and he did wear #2. However, Mossy Cade wore #3.
Cade was the best cover corner, in my opinion, in recent Texas history. However, there is another defensive player that wore #2 that went on to play in the NFL for about 10 years and played in 4 Pro Bowls.

I was sure it was Cade that was No. 2 and Gray that was No. 3. You sure about that?

I am absolutely positive on the jersey numbers. Cade was #3 and Gray was #2. Gray wore #19 early in his Longhorn career, but switched to #2 by the time he was a sophomore.
The other starting DB's in 1983 were senior Craig Curry, who wore #5, and senior Fred Acorn, who wore #17. Gray was a junior and Cade was a senior that year.

Gray & Metcalf were both #2 and Metcalf took the number right after Gray left for the pros.
Freer HS produced Acker & McMichael.
Johnny"Lam" Jones wore #26 at Texas, and I think RB Charles Hunter had it after Lam, but I won't bet on it.

OK, I dug up the '84 UT-Auburn tape and you're right. Of course, you knew that already, but there you go.
This is just a side, but it's a blast to go back and see those tapes and see the kind of players we had in the early '80s, and then look at the guys we've got now and feel like we're back at that level again.

OK, here are the answers so far:
Freshman - Eric Metcalf and Jerry Gray wore #2 (Doug E. Fresh and Prodigalhorn).
Sophomore - Acker and McMichael came from Freer (roche611).
Junior - Lam Jones did wear #26. And Charles Hunter wore the same number between 1985 and 1988 (roche611). But Lam was a senior in 1979; someone else wore #26 in the early 80's.
Senior - Marcus Tubbs is a good guess, Nordberg. His cousin, NFLer Winfred Tubbs, is well known to Texas fans. However, I don't believe Tubbs is reputed to have an uncle who was a former star in major league baseball.
So, we are still looking for the second half of the Junior question and the answer to the Senior question.....

It was Luck, not Lucky, and he played on the '83 team as a senior (I believe), so he might be the guy.

Uncle is Ralph "Roadrunner" Garr who played with Atlanta in the early 70's.
Cousin is Russell Maryland DT for Green Bay
