Texas Soccer player in accident.

Kylie Doniak was injured in an auto-pedestrian accident this morning. See below for known details. I know our prayers are with her and her family that she will have a complete recovery.

I couldn't find any more updates. If someone has LHN maybe they can update if they have any. But the UT web site or AAS has no updates. What I really hope as everyone else does is that no news is good news and that our prayers are being answered.

Re: Texas Soccer player in accident. [re: Bill in Sinton]

Kylie is in a medically induced coma to minimize brain swelling. She also has a broken leg, broken ribs, and a broken collar bone among other serious injuries, but the closed head injury and related pressure on her brain is by far the most serious.

One cannot overstate the importance of positive thoughts and prayers at a time like this. The more people that do so, can have a significant effect on Kylie's well being and recovery.

Pedestrians, while always having the right of way, dont stand a chance against a moving car or truck. It always scares me when I see students crossing the street around UT with their headphones on and not a care in the world.

I have no idea what the circumstances are in this case, but it is extremely sad that she was hit by a car. You can never ever trust your surroundings near the street.

Re: Texas Soccer player in accident. [re: Bill in Sinton]

Kylie has shown some improvement, but she has a long and difficult fight ahead of her. The brain swelling is still a big concern, so please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Folks can go to Kylies CaringBridge page for updates.

AA-s is reporting that she opened her eyes and doctors are noting signs of improvement.

Re: Texas Soccer player in accident. [re: Bill in Sinton]

I drove my daughter up for a Texas game in Lexington, KY against UK a couple of years ago. The girls were so nice to my daughter after they game. They stuck around, gave her a poster and signed her UT soccer ball. Kylie's name is on there. I hope she gets better.

Michael: I thought you wanted to be here instead of prison.
George Bluth Sr.: No. In prison, you have to close your eyes and take it. Here, you have to close your eyes and give it.

Kylie's improving every day! She's flying to California today to enter a rehab hospital. She responds to commands and clearly is improving way faster than anticipated.

Please keep Kylie and her family in your prayers!

Re: Texas Soccer player in accident. [re: Bill in Sinton]

Kylie and her family remain in my thoughts and prayers. Very happy to see that she's making progress, but this is going to be a long road for her. Hopefully there isn't permanent brain damage, but it's far too early to tell.

Kylie is getting better and better! She recognizes all her family members and is able to whisper their names -- she has a speaking valve in. Keep her, her family, and her doctors and therapists in your prayers.
