Dontre Wilson sets announcement, finalists!
|
| |
Per 247/Sports-Hookem.com...
DeSoto four-star running back Dontre Wilson is ready to make his college decision. "It's down to Oregon and Texas," Don Wilson confirmed via text message.
In addition to the big decision his father Don Wilson confirmed two programs are in a heated battle for the speedsters services.
Wilson has visited both programs this spring and would be a huge pickup for either school. Both Texas and Oregon have a running back commitment already in the class of 2013 with the Longhorns having nabbed four-star Arlington Martin prospect Kyle Hicks.
247Sports will be on hand when WIlson makes the call between the Longhorns and the Ducks.
We'll see what he does in another month!
27-25... SEC, SEC, SEC!

I think he picks Oregon ... our depth at RB being the deciding factor.
Because of that depth losing him to the Ducks won't sting quite as much.

Did they give any hint to the day they are looking at announcing the big decision?

Sorry 35... somehow I didn't copy this;
The No. 106-ranked player in the Top247 for the class of 2013 will announce between two schools during his spring game on May 25.
I guess he has to think about it a little more... or at least has time to! I'm 50-50 on this... he's liked Oregon & their offense for a while, but the distance for the fam is big issue... he liked Texas for a long time, but from what I hear, he's not sold on how Harsin/Applewhite will use him! How can he say NO to Texas...
27-25... SEC, SEC, SEC!

Maybe he's waiting to see what Oregon's Nike caps look like on May 24.

He may be concerned about competition, but 2 complete sets of starting quality backfield sounds pretty damn scary. You would get to the NFL with 1/2 as much chance of a career ending injury and even healthy, there are only so many carries in any RB's lifetime. And, if the guys already at UT are 1/2 as good as us internet experts predict, they will not all be at Texas for 4 years.

I believe Oregon is pretty nicely stacked at RB also. Lace Sestrunk wasn't close to playing time when he transferred. A frosh last yr was one of the top 3-4 RBs in the country. Incoming class has one highly ranked 4* signed and a 2013 rb commit is rated much higher than Wilson.

It was Colorado in the 80s and early 90s and now Oregon in the 2000s. I don't get what is attracting these Texas players to the NW.
Vince Young, when asked if the Longhorns would like to come back to the Rose Bowl next year (2006 NC game): "Yes sir, we'll be back!"

In CU case it was $ and the coach's daughter and in UO's case it's $ and weed.

The Oregon offense appeals to a smaller back like Wilson, and that team's wardrobe of unis appeals to this generation of high school football players. Wilson's probably headed to Eugene, and if he's like most state of Texas backs, he'll spend about a year out there before transferring back closer to home.

How many Texas RB's have left Eugene over the last few years? Quite a few, I know.

I haven't followed recruiting much lately - any news on the Wilson front? Or is it radio silence before the big day?
I need to sober up - someone give me a Coors Light.

Any word on when Jesus comes back? I am at least as interested in that as in where some egomaniacal jock decides to pursue his education.
Will the announcement be covered by the networks? Will head coaches from both schools be on hand?
Has he already made up his mind and put off announcing his decision until the 25th, or is he going to dynamite his brain and finally decide on that date?
Is there any significance to that date as a reason for picking it? His patron saint's feast day? His town's Vegetable Fest? Anniversary of his mom's hysterectomy? His first son's third birthday?
I gotta know.

You can count on huisache for a worthless answer.
Why exactly are you reading a recruiting board?

I had him going to Oregon. I didn't think he would sit behind Brown, Bergeron, and Gray.
I'm not a big fan of Oregon and its questionable recruiting tactics, but I wish the young man luck in his career.
