Matt, I remember meeting you for the first time when you were waiting a year to enroll at the University. You were at every recruiting event prior to games. Your years of dedication to the program and the University have been outstanding. During the last year, my family has gotten a chance to get to know you, and we are proud to have made that acquaintance. After the Colorado game, I met your family and got a chance to tell them how proud they should be of you. They obviously are, and with good reason. Good luck after your eligibility runs out in another month. I would say graduation, but you have your degree and are in the masters program. A pro franchise would be lucky to have a center with as much heart and smarts as you bring to the football field. We are very proud to be a part of your extended family of friends and supporters.

I enjoyed sitting at your table at the Holiday Bowl banquet last year and getting a chance to chat with you and Kris. That was fun!
You're obviously a real smart guy or else you wouldn't be playing center. Those smarts will take you a long way.
And in additon to being a big tough guy, you're a gracious young man as well. Smarts, toughness and graciousness. You're definitely on your way. Good luck after UT, Matt!

Matt - You're the "unsung hero" of the Horns' offense, and I've always enjoyed watching your good work in the trenches.
Without your leadership, the Horns would not have succeeded at the highest level (as they have this season). My guess is that Chris and Cedric particularly appreciate your good work -- and it may give you some solace (since offensive linemen are seldom noticed by the media) that the rest of us appreciate your calling the signals for the OL at the line of scrimmage, your own effective blocking, and the fact that you have made the exchange of the football (between center and QB) "automatic" -- and also have done the same with the implementation of our "quarterback sneaks".
Congrats also on your excellent academic work at UT, and good luck in your future business and political (if you try that arena, which I think you should) ventures.
We're all proud, in every respect, to have you as a key member of the Longhorn team.

Matt,
I don't think there could be a sister that is more proud than I am (except maybe a tie with Jocelyn). You have grown to be the man that I always knew that you would be. I am incredibly proud of what you have accomplished on the football field as well as in the classroom. I have been watching you work so hard in the weightroom, on the field, during the season, and the off-season, during practice, and even after practice. In addition to all of the work in football, you have been studying late nights and in every spare moment in order to accomplish what you have academically. What I am most proud of you for though is outside of all of that..I am most proud of how wonderful of a person you are. You have always strived to uphold high morals. You are not only a great athlete and scholar, but a great person. You are kind and gererous, fun and thoughtful. I pray that all your dreams come true...You deserve it!

As a UT alum, and an ex-student trainer for the football team, I can say that I am PROUD to have had you and your classmates as part of our legacy. You gentlemen have been class acts on the field, but even more importantly...off the field as well.
I have experienced that after graduation...the winds that blow carry everyone in so many different directions, BUT, every fall you will again find yourself amongst family, living and dying with every snap, tackle, kick and whistle... be it from the 24th row in DKR or from a Satellite dish in another state. You'll love coming back and seeing everyone again....and hoping the new kids are as classy and hard working as you guys were....and so the baton passes again.

You've been a leader and a stalwart for so long at center that it will be strange to see someone else snapping the ball to get our offense started! Thank you for all the great work that our o-line has done as a team this year. Yopu all have done a great job that each of you should be proud of.

Thanks so much for all that you have done to resurrect Texas football. Without looking, I'm sure we'd have to go back 20+ years to find a class that leaves with a better overall record.
