Without question, the most prepared, composed, and accurate college QB I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Major Applewhite, I thank you. Your play will be spoken with the likes of Layne and Street in Longhorn lore. You are one of the best ever. Good luck in all that you do.

All I can say is good luck and thanks. You've handled all the issues that surrounded starting or backing up with class. Don't go and play for Tennessee. Dallas or the Texans need a real quarterback....

Major: Thanks for the tremendous effort against Colorado last night. We all were pulling for you and loved your courage. You were the shinning star and please pass this on the the entire team, "We love the Horns and all of you played your hearts out!" Major, wish you had another year with us but best of luck after graduation. I know you will succeed in everything you do throughout your life. How about Coach Applewhite and UT National Champions 2010.

Major -
You, more than anyone, even Ricky, have made me proud to be a Longhorn. You embody everything great about Texas and football altogether. I can't imagine what the "controversy" did to you, but no matter what you always handled it with class. I see no other quarterback close to you, ever. I hate it that you did not get as much of a chance to show it. Major you are simply the most incredible college football player I've seen. Tell me what other QB has beaten Nebraska, twice. . .? No one. Thank you so much for everything you have done, you don't know what it means to the fans. There is nothing that I can say, or anyone else, that will give you these last two years back (I'm sorry for talking about the controversy, but it kills me). However, the way you have handled it is amazing and you always show class. I thank you for that. Again, none of this will give you the games back, the games you deserve, but I just want to express what I think. You are, and always will be, the greatest quarterback to ever play at Texas. Ever. I'm going to wear number 11 for my football season next year. Number 11 Forever. Hookem.

Major--
Thanks for all that you've done for the University of Texas. You were a class act and a great sportsman throughout your career. This past year must have really been tough for you, but you had the courage and class to put the team's interests ahead of everything else.
Thanks for all the great memories, especially the wins over Nebraska and OU. I will always remember the 98-year touchdown pass to McGarrity in the the '98 OU game; what a work of art that was.
Best of luck to you. We will always be rooting for you. Hope you end up back in Austin!

There's a couple of things that I, as a Sooner fan, can add to this thread....
First, there are players on the opponent's team that you FEAR. The guy who makes plays. The guy who plays his best against your team - the BIG game. The guy who raises the level of his teammates. The guy who talks trash to your team after he makes a great play . You have been that guy for UT for four years and noone has come close to striking fear in this Sooner's heart since #@!!(*g Peter Gardere!
Behind your back, I have called you Opiewhite. To your face, I want you to know how much I have always respected you and FEARED the impact you have had on games against my Sooners. I think I speak for a lot of Sooner fans when I say, "good luck" and "GOOD RIDDANCE" !

Hey Major,
I was thinking to myself as you were leading the team back last Saturday, man, if he gets this done, he will not only be a Texas legend, but a college football legend. Then I though, you already are a legend, even though we lost. You've got a lot of determination and mental toughness, exactly what a successful QB needs to win the big game. And what a coach needs as well. If the NFL doesn't work out, come back and coach UT when Mack is gone, that would be awesome. You are one of the smartest football players I have ever seen play the game, perfect criteria for a head coach. Good luck in San Diego. Hook 'Em!

I would have given anything to have been at the Kansas game this year. To see you take your bow--everyone hopes to get the "victory lap" in live. Few people get it and fewer deserve it the way you do. Please take another with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter in the Holiday bowl. That will mean many things worked out right. You leave the program in better shape than when you came here--that's all anyone can ask.

Major, In the last year I have become a huge fan of the Texas Longorns. At my school we are having a contest of whose classroom door looks most festive. My principal is a unfotunately a huge Aggie. On his door is says "Have a Aggie Christmas" which kinda doesn't make sense but then again it is an Aggie. Anyways he had A&M signs all over the door when I saw it I was mad. That night I went home and got on the Internet and printed like 20-25 Texas signs and that next morning I went into his office when he wasn't in there and taped the proud Longhorn signs all over the A&M ones and got the ad out of the newspaper of us beating them and taped i over a picture of the whole A&M sign and circled the score!! He threatened to send me to ON CAMPUS SUSPENSION. Your are an aweome QB and Texas hates to see you go. Hopefully you will return to Texas one day. You should have played a lot more of those games. Your are my Hero. I have always wanted to meet you. And I almost did, you dated my cousin Heather Crow. Maybe I just might one day. I still wear the number #11 with much pride and every Texas game I wear my Lucky jersey. My #11 jersey.
Sincerely your fan
Anna Snodgrass
And never forget.............HOOK EM'

Hey major! I just wanted to thank you for giving the longhorns a reason to hold our heads up high after Ricky left. He may have broken a few records but you got into our hearts and reminded us the true meaning of bleeding burnt orange. when the stakes were high and we were up against the wall (when other qb's got nervous) we knew it would be alright because we still had major to save the day.
the championship against colorado is a perfect example of this. at our party all you could hear was "MAJOR! MAJOR!" and when you came onto the field the house errupted with applause and cheers. then you made the impossible possible !
for 4 years you made us all a little better than we actually are just by being you. we all felt a little more classier and more victorious because we backed up one of the greastest qbs ever.
as we are sorry to see you go and terrified of what the next few years hold for the longhorns......we are thankful that we all got to see the rath of the major!!! and we are all praying for a quick return.

Major,
Well, dude its sad to see ya leave texas but it will be great to see ya play in the NFL and hopefully one day on the sideline wearing burnt orange again. You've given the longhorns 4 great and memorable years and even almost got them to Rose Bowl. It had to be great to hear all the fans cheering for you at Texas Stadium. Your a class act and a great football player. Best of luck to you in the future.
