I remember you separating your shoulder at Tech last year and I remember thinking that's one gutsy, selfless player leaving it all on the field for Texas.
You are a tough, talented son-of-a-gun. You and the rest of the Texas City Four (and the rest of Mack's first class) signalled a return to great football in Austin. For that, we fans, will always be in debt to you.
Thank you, Ervis. Best of luck and Hook 'Em!

The fact that you, Tyrone, Everick, and Jermain came to UT is why our 1998 defense went from terrible to good. You guys locked up Nebraska in their own house! You held the aggies to zero rushing yards and not much passing.
Thanks for all the wonderful memories!

fourthree4ever,
I think they held the Aggies to NEGATIVE SEVEN yards rushing in that game.

Ervis,
As a UT alum, and an ex-student trainer for the football team, I can say that I am PROUD to have had you and your classmates as part of our legacy. You gentlemen have been class acts on the field, but even more importantly...off the field as well.
I have experienced that after graduation...the winds that blow carry everyone in so many different directions, BUT, every fall you will again find yourself amongst family, living and dying with every snap, tackle, kick and whistle... be it from the 24th row in DKR or from a Satellite dish in another state. You'll love coming back and seeing everyone again....and hoping the new kids are as classy and hard working as you guys were....and so the baton passes again.
Thank you for choosing us.
God Bless & Hookem,
The Morgan family

Hey Ervis,
Here's a story you might find funny.
I had a contractor, Andrew Webb, do about $11,000 of work on my house last summer. One day at work, a buddy of mine at work told me he couldn't make the Texas Exe's meeting in Johnson City where Mack was going to be talking, so he gave the tickets to me and another buddy at work. So I get home and tell Webb and his crew that I'm going to see Mack Brown - any questions that I should ask for them? Webb responds that he grew up with your dad and was good friends with him long ago. I told Webb that I'd ask Mack about how you were doing.
So Mack gets up and speaks at the meeting. He goes into great detail about the QB controversy and how he wants all the fans to get behind the QBs, etc, doesn't want it to turn into a big circus, etc. Mack really rams this point home. Then he opens the floor for questions. I raise my hand and ask about the cornerback situation. Mack nearly explodes thinking that I asked about the quarterback controversy. He figures it out and sounds really relieved, then talks about you, Brooks, Jammer, Brown, Babers, and Colier.
I reported the whole story back to Webb, who seemed to get a kick out of it. Don't know if the name Andrew Webb will mean anything to you, but he was a great guy and a damn good carpenter who really helped me out. He went to Galveston Ball HS, if that helps.
Congrats on a great career.
Hook 'em
Fritz

Thanks so much for all that you have done to resurrect Texas football. Without looking, I'm sure we'd have to go back 20+ years to find a class that leaves with a better overall record.
During your 4 years here, you have done nothing but represent the school we all love with class and honor. . . THANKS!
