I could always count on seeing either on FSN or ESPN the Spring Football game, not to mention various men's baseball games, women's softball games, and some basketball games. But now...because I have DirecTv I am unable to see any of these things.
Do I think LHN is a good thing? In my own little selfish world....in a word, "NO!"

In reply to:
various men's baseball games,
The number of baseball games shown on FSN and ESPN has actually gone down the last few years. You could see more games on at the turn of the century than you could just a couple years ago. The only games they would carry would be maybe 2 of the A&M series, but that was it.

Thanks to the LHN, there have been many fewer Longhorn related sporting events available for viewing by most of the Longhorn fandom. Basketball...baseball...the spring football game. Wow, what would we have done without it?

The only good thing about it so far seems to be the $300,000,000. I'm certainly seeing less games.

So, Dogbert - you actually get to see the LHN? Lucky you.

This is funny. You people must be very young. I remember the (football) ABC "Game of the Week". Game being singular. Basketball was about the same, except the tournament, Baseball was non-existent. And the spring game??? Come on!!! We sure have gotten entitled.

Agsuk, I remember those days too. I have indeed been spoiled over the last several years. Used to see UT/ou, UT/a&m, and the Cotton Bowl. The rest I could hear on the Exxon SWC radio network.

Back in the day, if I couldn't make it to the Disch, I could listen to Longhorn baseball on KLBJ, pretty much anywhere in the state. Anyone remember Tom Dore? Seriously, I used to listen from Houston quite often. Now, not so much.

No, Actually I do not. I just think it's a good deal for the university and will eventually be part of the lineup available from the major cable providers. Yes, I do like the check. I think the income for the athletic dept is a good thing.

I ran into a TWC tech at a tire shop. He stated he has not heard of any plans to add LHN. He believes it will all be open to streaming before a cable or satellite picks it up. But that is just from a tech guy. I have DTV. I am frustrated. Suddenlink would be my cable provider. I would switch if they picked it up.

I'm going to have to say I'm a fan of the LHN... Thanks to an awesome friend who has FIOS I have access anywhere. Which is great for me since I travel for work and am currently in Pittsburgh with NO chance to catch any of the regional stuff.
I think I watched almost all the basketball games and saw the spring game live.
So far it's been a very good thing for me

Isn't there an ESPN app that will show the LHN? Does anyone know the name of it because I can't find it. Muchas gracias!

Those apps have you log in using your cable carrier ID and you are only able to see the stations you pay for / carrier provides for you.

Yeah, I thought it was WatchESPN and logged into my Fios account (yes, I get the LHN) but the LHN isn't showing up, just a couple of ESPN channels.

One academic year has almost passed...and my ability to watch Longhorns on tv has dwindled. With the increasing accessibility of pro sports plus regular college sports, the Longhorns are becoming an afterthought. Mr. Dodds, we need to hear from you. We need some movement.

Really??? What did you miss? There is always 1 football game that is pay-per-view or not on at all. All the others are televised. Basketball. Most of them are televised. Baseball?? Rarely on TV in the first place. I fail to see that you really missed that much. Probably not much different that the pre-LHN years.

Probably all those basketball games would have been picked up by some regional network or another.
The Lone Star Network that carried Texas, Aggy, and Baylor home games
The Big 12 Network that would have picked them
up.
All home baseball games for the past two seasons
were carried free on texassports web cam feed
They used KVET radio audio feed for sound.
This included all regional and super regional
home games that were not picked up by ESPN.
These were quality video feeds with multiple
cameras, graphics, and replays. They not only carried
the post game interview with Augie, but had
the video as well.
During the regionals they even carried the post
game press conferences by both teams.
It was as good or better than LHN broadcasts.
So other than that LHN didn't effect us much!

Baseball telecast being streamed were convient when I am on the road. Miss it. Longhorn network would do itself a favor by streaming, I would think it would build up an audience that they could sell to a provider.
